Interview by Tim Brown
When and why did you start playing? I started music as a career about 8 years ago, but I’ve been making music since the age of 4.
Which famous musicians do you admire? Why? Like many, Michael Jackson was a huge inspiration for me to start making music. Other musicians I admire are artists like Nas, Usher, Bruno Mars, because they are incredibly talented and remain true to themselves.
Were you influenced by old records & tapes? Which ones? Of course! Albums like, “The N Album”, by Nas, to “Confessions”, by Usher, “Ray of Light”, by Madonna, and “Ocean Eyes” by Owl City.
Who are your favorite musicians? Groups? CD’s? As I mentioned some earlier, Michael Jackson, Nas, Usher, Madonna, Bruno Mars, and Owl City are some of my favorite artists.
Have you been in competitions? Fleadh’s? Any prizes? When I first started out as a musician, I definitely entered competitions and showcases. I won most of the ones I entered!
Do you perform in public? Describe those occasions? Concerts, radio, TV. Performing is a part of being an artist I enjoy most. Within my music career, I have been on 2 nationwide tours as my own headlining act, and the experience was amazing! Can’t wait to get back on the road to start performing again!
What makes this kind of music “good” to you? What I like about the music I do, is that it’s very eclectic. I don’t have to conform to one sound or genre.
Why did you choose to play this kind of music? I wanted to express my creativity in all ways, and with the type of music I do, I can achieve that.
Let’s Talk about your music and your last work… Right now, I have a new album out called, “Traveling”. It is a musical movie that will evoke new ideas and will take you on an emotional, but magical journey. It’s about a guy on this journey called life, that starts off as King, but somehow gets lost, forgets who he is and is forced into the norm. Throughout the process, he experiences love, heartbreak, ups, downs, being ridiculed, and finally finding victory. So this album is very creatively written and one I am proud of most! This album is very different from my last back in 2015, which was titled, “Unification”, an album about unity, and coming together as people, but both have very important messages.
How do you feel about the internet in the music business? The internet definitely helps getting your music out there, especially as an independent artist and in this time we’re in now.
What are the plans for the future? My plans for the future is to dominate the music industry like some of my favorite artists, with creativity and good music.
How has your music evolved since you first began playing music? Music has made a drastic change since I’ve started making music, but in this field, that happens every 10 years or so, so it’s one of those things you have to be ready for.
Could you briefly describe the music-making process? I only make music when I’m inspired or have a message I want to get across, so my writing process is always first. Next, I find the sound to mirror the emotion behind the writing, and lastly I record it.
