Hot on the heels of his summer earworm track… “Summer Of Love”, multi-award-winning Welsh, singer/songwriter Darren Parry has a brand new single waiting to be heartedly embraced by the listeners again entitled… “Unconditional”.
The dictionary definition of ‘unconditional’ reads… “without conditions or limitations”. Darren says… “If you describe something as unconditional, you mean that the
person doing or giving it does not require anything to be done by other people in exchange or return”.
This heartfelt Pop/ballad was co-written with ex Jesus Christ Superstar lead Steve Balsamo (who’s written for Slash, Meatloaf, Cliff Richard and who also co-wrote Darren’s summer track “Summer Of Love”) and one of Wales’ top vocalists/performers, the very talented… Lee Gilbert. Darren says… “the new song “Unconditional” was written via Zoom during the lockdown periods, initially for a Hollywood film. Unfortunately, due to lockdown restrictions in the US and some problems, the film did not go ahead but the song still remains”. The film script featured a 12 yr old boy who was saying goodbye to his father for a while and this song was like a theme to the film. Darren says… “I dug into my own emotional well by thinking of my Godson, who is a similar age to the boy in the script and that’s where the title originally came from… my unconditional love for him”.
Darren continues… “Steve, Lee, and I had a few sessions on Zoom and the song was written pretty quickly. I managed to get up to Shabby Road Studios (with the awesome engineer/producer Al Steele) to record my vocals and lay down some keyboards and basic drums. The track was then sent to young, hip, Swansea producer Dai Griffiths (Dai Griff Productions) who produced the finished track”.
Darren has had a busy year with winning the 2021 ISSA (International Singer-Songwriters Association) ‘Int. Male Songwriter Of The Year’ Silver Crystal Award in
Atlanta, Georgia, USA, writing a song for the new The Korgis album (“Broken”), having 4 new songs on Lee Gilbert’s brand new album (‘Take Me As I Am), including the title track, releasing his own singles, writing for other artists as well
as various film and media projects.
